“To us, it doesn’t make sense to keep the jeans you don’t longer wear in your wardrobe. Nor does it make sense to throw them away. We all know that our resources aren’t unlimited, that’s why we most of all have to be smart. The circular economy comes with a solution. That’s why we create new jeans from our old jeans. MUD Jeans is the only brand that works completely according to the principles of the circular economy.”
Mud Jeans became a reality when 23-year-old Bert van Son had moved to China to work in the textile industry, after 30 years in the fashion industry he changed his views on the impact that fast fashion has on the environment and its workers. Therefore, in 2013 he introduced ‘Lease A Jeans’, which allowed customers to shop guilt free while doing good for the environment.
So what if we all clean up our own mess? This very simple idea was the start of the MUD way of thinking! First, in the circular economy products are designed to be reused easily. Jeans are recycled to create new denim, returned jeans are upcycled and sold as vintage pairs, and they don’t use conventional cotton! Every one of their mills is BCI and GOTS certified. The best part is that you can always use and return your jeans after all your adventures so they can be recycled once again!
