‚ÄúOur mission is to create the best, most environmentally friendly and socially responsible products possible, and to educate and inspire those around us to live and work for a sustainable¬†tomorrow.‚ÄĚ

Story

It all started with a bicycle.

In the fall of 2009, Bill Johnston was in the market for a road bike and John Riddle had one to sell.  At the time, Bill was a recent college grad working for an outdoor adventure company guiding backpacking and mountaineering trips, and John was a 25-year textile veteran in the yarn business.  John and Bill became fast friends and started riding together regularly through the hills of Western North Carolina.  After many lengthy conversations during those afternoon rides, the two decided to put their skills and interests together and start Recover.

From the beginning, the idea was to make the most environmentally friendly and socially responsible products possible.  Bill and John also wanted Recover to represent something greater than the products they were making Рthey wanted Recover to stand for something people could feel good about.

Today, the philosophy remains the same, and Recover’s mission is more important now than ever.

Recover makes 100% recycled apparel and accessories from recycled plastic bottles and upcycled cotton. In addition to Recover’s signature comfortable, soft, and durable tees, hats, beanies, and socks, they also make upcycled bike tube backpacks, tee tote bags, and wetsuit coozies and iPad cases. A wholesale partner of national and international businesses, events, and non-profits, you can also buy their environmentally friendly and socially responsible products direct to consumer.

Recover’s process is 360¬į from design to manufacturing to fulfillment. It takes materials out of the landfill, reduces the use of water and energy, and minimizes dyes, chemicals, and greenhouse gas emissions significantly compared to traditional processes and products.¬† To skim the surface of specifics, since 2010, they have diverted 5,175,340 plastic bottles from the landfill. They‚Äôre still counting, as with every Recover tee made and purchased, that number goes up by 8. This innovative and genuinely do-gooding company is proud to work with local and international communities to build supply chains that benefit people and our planet, and to partner with local, national, and global nonprofits to raise awareness and support environmental and social initiatives. A 1% for the Planet¬†member, Recover goes above and beyond with such programs as the Carbon Offset Program and Protect Our Parks- just to name a few.¬† Every day, Recover lives their mission and works to create a sustainable¬†tomorrow¬†today.
