What’s your story?
Born and raised in Nepal, Terra Thread’s founder Vik Giri moved to the United States with a plan to start a business that would allow him to support his family while also uplifting artisans in India and his home country. He founded Gallant International Inc. in 2009, a certified B Corp that provides organic and fair trade private label products for NGOs and corporations. After noticing the lack of natural fiber bags in the fashion industry, Vik Giri and his daughter Vizan created Terra Thread to fill this gap for conscious consumers.
What is your “why”?
Created in response to the detrimental effects of fast fashion, Terra Thread is founded on the mission of creating the world’s most affordable, durable, sustainable, and ethically produced bags and accessories. We want to make a positive impact on the fashion industry, the environment and humanity at large.
What’s your flagship product?
We create affordable and durable Fairtrade Organic Cotton bags and accessories for conscious consumers who care about people and our planet. Our product lines range from backpacks, duffle and gym bags, totes, zipper pouches and laptop sleeves.
Who’s your ideal customer?
Ultimately, our products are made for individuals who share our values and are interested in making the world a better place for all. It is important to us that our products remain affordable in order to be inclusive to all conscious consumers.
Why does sustainability matter?
We believe in taking environmental and social responsibility in all aspects of our business. With only 1% of the fashion industry occupied by sustainable brands, Terra Thread aims to challenge industry norms and contribute to a better future for laborers and the planet.
Do you contribute to your local community?
Terra Thread products are made with Fairtrade Organic Cotton in Fair Trade Factories and we are GOTS certified. Taking it one step further, we believe in giving back. Which is why with each purchase made, we donate 10-20 meals to Feeding America, assisting those in need.
