What’s your story?
Founded in 2013 by twin brothers Mike and Alex Faherty, the family-run business was the culmination of a lifelong dream to build a brand inspired by their coastal upbringing in New Jersey. They gained the experience they needed to create the lifestyle and apparel company they always wanted: clothing made from premium materials, both ethically sourced and environmentally sound, with a focus on unwavering craftsmanship, specifically made for life’s great moments.
What’s your “why”?
Faherty was founded with the intention to make the highest-quality timeless clothing possible. We wanted something that felt a bit vintage – but with modern performance touches and updates: a little stretch here, some expert tailoring there. Our clothing blends timeless heritage appeal with modern design and functionality. Our goal: to build a new American legacy by creating high-quality, sustainably minded, feel-good favorites that will bring you joy to wear.
What’s your flagship product?
Part of the All Day Collection, the All Day Short is a best-seller. Available in multiple in-seam lengths, plenty of colors, and the choice of belt loops (or not), it’s designed for everyday life and beyond. With 4-way stretch, and made with our exclusive water-resistant and quick-drying fabric, these shorts are thoughtfully designed, exceptionally well-made and incredibly comfortable.
Legend Sweater Shirt – we developed the unique fabric of our Legend Sweater Shirt first, crafting a soft and stretchy knit – then cut it into one of the most comfortable and versatile flannels. A classic button-up silhouette, it’s perfect for layering and is built to move where you move. Available in Women’s too, it’s back in new colors and plaids for the Fall season.
Who’s your ideal customer?
Our customers love a slight heritage and/or vintage appeal but with a fresh, modern silhouette and subtle performance touches that befit a modern lifestyle. The Faherty audience is increasingly investing across brands that align with their personal values (i.e Sustainability, Community-Conscious, Inclusive).
Why does sustainability matter?
We feel a deep responsibility to do things differently: to promise comfort without compromising quality. To hold ourselves to a higher standard with a lower environmental impact. To leave the world a better place than we found it.
We recognize the impact the fashion industry has on the world, and we’re dedicated to learning how to be better stewards of the planet. We believe the power of conversation and connection can make real change, and we’re committed to supporting people and organizations doing work that we believe in.
Do you contribute to your local community?
We are committed to actively educating ourselves on Native history and erasure, and it is now part of our mission as a brand to model a mutually beneficial relationship between Native artists and non-Native companies for collective healing. We continue to partner with Native and Indigenous designers, and work with Native-led non-profits. As part of Faherty’s 360 Native commitment, we donate products and funds each year to various Indigenous organizations, including EarthGuardians, 4kinship, the American Indian Community Development, Lakota Way Healing Center, and IllumiNative.
We’re always learning, growing, and looking for ways to improve how we do business. As part of that ongoing quest, we’ve partnered with a number of organizations committed to making the world a better place, including 1% For the Planet, Surfrider Foundation and Bluesign.
